since i got my cleaner shrimps i have notice some white thin tubes about 1/2 to 3/4 long and very thin diameter. it looks hard like skeleton but it flakes apart if you pick it up. do you think this is shrimp poop or maybe something else? i will try to photo it when i get my camera back.

I've never seen shrimp poop, even though I have 2 cleaner shrimps. One thing I know from FW experience is that long, thin, white poop is an indication of constipation. Lack of fiber, thus lack of veggies, hence constipation. Please note that this applies to FRESH WATER... I have no idea whatsoever about marine biology.

So please take this information with a grain of salt until a more experience person responds. I would hate to set you on a wrong path.

Good luck finding the answer!

I think what you are seeing is pieces of its shell from a "molt". Shrimps will usually molt when water conditions change drastically (like when you first put them in your tank) or just to grow bigger. When shrimps molt they leave their outter shell behind and when the antenna and legs get broken off it might resemble what you are describing. Okay... now... make sure you've got iodine in the tank or you might get a molting desaster where the shrimp dies.

you guys made me go look at my fish pooping  all of them look healthy, most of their droppings are soft green or brown stuff so the white poop is coming from someone else. the mystery continues!
