I got a great deal on a chiller and some other equipment used in an FO tank. Problem is, he used copper and other ich remedies in his tank. Is there a correct way to "clean" the chiller and other parts? Was thinking that I would just circulate a garbage can full of normal water through the chiller for a while.

I thought about the vinegar thing. I got the entire tank, lines, fittings, chiller and all. It was all dry when I got it, however, I doubt it was cleaned very well. How much of the medication can really be left over? Do you think running diluted vinegar then some clean RO through it would be enough to clean it out? It was less than a year old.

Yeah, run some vinegar through it. At worse it will clean it of deposits and filth.

Test the water that you will use to clean your chiller. Record any readings.

Clean the chiller with the water that you tested.

Re-test the water that you cleaned the chiller with. Record the readings.

Compare results from the initial and the finial. Increase of copper? Retest. Check yourself.

If there is copper readings....clean again.
