Also, please let me know the best way Ie kordon bags or regular bags, any other tricks to ensure safe arrival???? and are they good shippers...will 2nd day be ok or should i overnight it?
I have shipped live fish before so i know the BASICS like the styro box with heat pack attached to the lid.

Thanks, andrea

Andrea, I've shipped an H.crispa before. I had it submerged, well oxygenated, and triple bagged (i think 6 mil bags). I have no experience shipping "dry" (I'd imagine you'd need some water or else the anemone would desiccate.

I have looked into it a lot because I will be shipping a BTA this spring, it seems Len's method is the recommended one. Lots of water, multiple thick bags. I presume you would remove the anemone from the rock first so not to crush it in shipping but have not found much written on that?

Some people do ship them dry, it's very cheap, but seems to have a sketchy success record.

GReat. Is there a reason for tripple bagging. Usually, I double bag, but are anemones able to "sting through" the bags or something, I've just never heard of tripple bagging and am curious as to the reason. thanks, I will definately be shipping with water!!

I've recieved hundreads, if not thousands, of anemonies shipped dry. It's one of the BEST methods of getting them to the US from the field in good shape. The exporters put the anemonies on a window screen rack for a few minutes while the expel the water, then they are bagged. It's a heck of a lot easier on them, then being exposed during low tide, in the baking hot sun and wind ;)

Currently, I know of no exporter using the damp method for SPS, so commercially, Comatose is completely wrong on this. Many corals are shipped from the field damp, toadstools, zoa's, palys and even mushroom rocks. It's nothing new and nothing limitted to SPS.

Greshams right,
If not for the dry method...your long tentacles, sebaes, bubbles etc. would cost twice as much!
Thats how old this routine method is.
Steve
Keywords; low tide, heat wave, dessicating winds...natures really a miracle
