In addition to having nitrate issues, if you've read my other post, I have the enjoyment of having to relocate my 155 bowfront. We're putting an addition on the house and, of course, the wall my tank is on is getting removed partially. Also, the wall is exterior and outside is all my equipment - actually a great way to get the equipment/noise out of the livingroom.
Anyway.... the architect, probably playing a cruel joke, wants the tank moved 4 feet down the wall, and the equipment needs to either go inside the stand, which my wife will hate, or on the exterior of the house, which is preferable.
By placing the equipment outside the house my current Iwaki pump isn't strong enough to move that much water. The new equipment location will be about 35 feet away from the tank. Height of the plumbing, or head pressure, isn't that critical as the vertical difference from the ground outside the house to inside the tank is only 5 or so feet, it's the 35 feet of horizontal run that makes the difference.
I was considering using an old 1 HP pool pump, has anyone done that with any success? What size pump would you guys recommend to move the water that far a distance?
