I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Sea Bunnies from ipsf. They are supposed to produce free swimming larvae very frequently, which are a good food source for corals, clams, anemones, etc. But I wonder how large they are, and if they would be a viable food source for a Mandarin. Any thoughts? For those of you unfamiliar with Sea Bunnies, they are a type of opisthobranch snail, and you can read a little about them at www.ipsf.com

Too me, that compay can make a buck off of anyone. A lot of their stuff is over priced and not really needed for the average reefer.

Get a fuge.

That "company" just happens to be run by a guy that this "industry" owes a lot to ;)

Everything Gerald produces, is maricultured at his facility. Current maricultured pricing on those items is still on the expensice side when your talking about a stateside facility.

Some people are highly interested in biodiversity in their "fuges". One excellent way is to procure species, like what Gerald produces.

Many species of Opisthobranchia breed rapidly, unfortunately their swimming larva is not a food source for dragonets.

Thanks for the answer David. As for IPSF, I have ordered from them before and will continue to order from them in the future. I fully support any company in this industry that is as dedicated to captive bred and cultured items as they are, even if it costs a little more. I personally think their 9 for $99 is a great deal, since it includes shipping that would be $30 anywhere else. They also have always given me freebies with my order, and have accommodated my requests for substitutes in certain kits they sell. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs what they sell. Of course, this is just my opinion. And I do have a refugium, thank you, and that had nothing to do with my question.

They are great for mariculturing and other things that they have done in the past, but their prices are way over priced.

You do not need to pay that amount of money to start your refugium. $100?
I started mine with 5 dollars of rubble, 3 dollars for macro algae, and some sand that I had left over from my tank. It takes months for a good refugium rolling, some of those animals will die off due to lack of their natural foods not found in a fresh refugium.

Go to a LFS and ask them to get some cripitc rocks from their cured live rock rubble holding vat. Some of the best things in this hobby can be produced for free or atleast a fraction of the price.

Whooops, I used mariculture when I should have said aquaculture. He can't do any mariculture at his facility due to HI regs. He's completely closed system aquaculture.

Your definitly right about building a fuge that way. Some people like biodivirsity and have the $$ to spare, so IPSF, along with places like GARF, can get away with what they charge.

Me, myself, I bought a $100 box from both, and I was highly impressed with what I got from IPSF. Granted, that was nearly 10 years ago :D
