Is using "cooked shrimp" as food OK?

I have a porkupine puffer in my reef tank (don't worry, he's friendly asnd doesn't bother anyone or anything). I fed him krill when I purchased him last year, but started feeding him uncooked frozen shrimp from the grocery store (I thaw it out and give him a half shrimp per night).

I've recently noticed a salad size shrimp in the frozen section of my local store. It's not a lot longer than krill, but a whole heck of a lot beefier. However, it's been deveined and cooked. Would there be any problem giving these to the puffer?

I would not feed cooked shrimp. The more natural the better IMO.

Strictly from the protein standpoint it shouldn't make a whole lotta differnce whether the protein is denatured (cooked) or not since the amino acids are still present. However, I am not sure what affect it would have the general digestibility - as far as creature comfort.

I think that you might be missing some of the nutrients in the vein and possibly the shell (or surrounding membranes) in the pre-cooked shrimps.

In addition - I think most puffers need hard foods to keep their teeth in check....

I wouldn't feed cooked shrimp, again, not sure if there is a huge difference, but give it as naturally as poosible is my theory.

Yeah really. Any meat no matter how lean has fat. I would think that fat could spoil your water really quickly. Remember, your talking a warm tank and spoilage is so quick.
