So I have a customer who wants to convert his acrylic FO tank into a reef. The only problem is that the tank has had Rid-Ich (formalin and malachite green) used on it before. The plan was to remove all water, gravel, rock, and filter media (bioballs and filter floss) and replace with new stuff. The fish would likely go back in as well. My only concern is the tank itself.

Does acrylic 'soak up' stuff like this and re-release it? What about PVC or vinyl tubing?

My guess would be that you are fine. Give it a good rinsing :D

I don't think acrylic absorb these in at extend, so it should be fine.

Judging from the clarity of acrylic, I wouldn't think that it would be porous enough to absorb much of anything.
