JBJ Nano Cube

I have been using a 12 gallon nano (JBJ) as a place for softy frags. Been using it for 18 months. The hood just quit working again! This will be the third hood in 18 months! These things are junk! DO NOT BUY A JBJ NANO TANK! I think I'll just move everything to a twenty long and ditch the junky JBJ tank. Crap, I'm mad. Tried calling them, girl with such a heavy accent was speaking but couldn't understand a word. :x

Yeah, having a ballast in such a moisture-prone location really isn't a good idea..

I modded mine to put in a remote ballast and made use of the extra room to cram in more light. Now my only concerns with the light are the rusting reflectors..

I like the JBJ nanocube.. - Let me know when you're ready to sell it! :lol:

I did the same thing as Grateful Diver. I now have the stock 24w bulb, a 32w bulb, and 2 13w bulbs in the hood, with all ballasts external. I've never had a problem except for rust spots.

If only I was an electrician. I haven't advanced to the point of modifing my lighting. I'll stick to the plug and play. I am getting rid of this nano so if you really want it GratefulDiver, I will send it to you free if you pay the shipping charges. You can make better use of it than me. Let me know, can't ship it till next weekend though. I have new lighting coming for my 20 long.

I'm afraid I jumped to conclusions. It's the bulbs that went out. I had unplugged and plugged it back in too quickly and blew the lights for some reason. If there is a short or something I'll send it to you. So far so good.
