Do you know what type it is, any pics? Some are much more difficult to maintain. I have a purple one, I thing plexaurella. It has a "stalk" about as thick as my pinky and big fluffy polyps. It basically filter feeds, grows quite well without any real special care.
I've read that "rule of thumb" is if the polyps are white, it is a difficult species to maintain.
If it is brown in colour, there is a good chance that it has zooxanthellae, and loves light, if the tenticals are white, then it is a good chance that it is 'feeder' like pwj1286 said and loves food.
i picked up a purple one, a lavander one and a brown one. the purple and lavander one have long skinny branch like and the brown branches are thicker. they all three have polyps.
i work at bass pro shops and had a conversation with our fish guy, he was saying that they are both filter and photo.
is there something better than marine snow? and do i need to add anything else to help the quality of life in the tank? how long do i need to turn the protein skimmer off for, hour or more?
Sadly, it won't be till next year. I lived down in Clearwater for a year. Really, really hot down there. Sure did like the winter though. Florida is soooo cool. Loved the beaches and the babes. So many babes.
