Yeah, I have thought about Versed (midazolam) in food. The foxface does feed agressively, but he also shies away from anything unfamiliar in the aquarium.

I have thought about leaving a net in the tank, or continously feeding from the net, but to keep the food from being swirled out of the net, all the pumps, including the return pumps must be off in my tank---well I guess when the tank gets hypoxic enough---that will slow him down enough to get him out.

Still thinking about how to keep the other fish away from doped food, or food in net.

Thanks again,

Dave

Linus Pauling published in 1961 A molecular theory of general anesthesia inScience 134:15-21. I think it had something to do with a crystal hydrate.

I should try to find it for laughs.

Lots more research, findings, agents, and drugs since then. Remember the first anesthesiology residency in this country didn't take place until 1945.

In the ensuing 16 years they didn't have much idea about receptor sites, etc. I vaguely remember looking at Pauling's paper (that would have been 1982) as a piece of historical interest.

Still contemplating what to do about the Foxface, Bob Fenner has suggested a custom net, or worse case scenario: draining enough water out of the tank so that the fish really has nowhere to go...except to lock himself underneath some rock, I guess.

Take Care
