So as per my other thread, the tnak has been moved and now I have the sand left over from my old tank. If I wash it thouroughly can I add it to the new tank? I already put a few cups worth in the new tank to help the cycle along with all the old LR. If I wash it will it be ok? Or should I add more of the old as is?

If it were me I would only use the top 1/2" of the old sand bed and toss the rest.

There is alot of trapped detrius and stored "stuff" in the old sandbeds that are better left undisturbed. I was asking if washing and drying out the sand will get rid of all the crud in the bed or if it has been absorbed by the grains of sand and should just be tossed out.
