I came home from work today and my girlfriend told me she had a surprise for me. She told me to close my eyes and walked me over to my salt tank and I saw two floating bags in the sump. She pulled them out and showed me she had bought an orange plate coral and an awesome green tentacle'd alveopora! I was really thankful to think she only did this because she said I've had a really long week at work so far! Obviously, you can probably tell I'm marrying her.

Anyhow, I just thought about all the things she's bought me for my tank, including my ASM skimmer and most of my fish! :D I've also had friends offer to buy me things when I'm at the LFS with them.

With that said, what's the best thing for your reef someone has given you in the past?

My wife told me a few weeks ago after showing her a picture of a built in reef tank I found on the net, "Thats pretty, You should go ahead and do that for our house." :D

After I explaind the cost, time, effort involved and that my estimates were probably too low, she still told me to do it. 8O

Now, I haven't slept, can't stop thinking about the engineering of the plumbing, electrical, sump, cabinets, what equipment to get, etc etc etc...

But isn't that a BIG part of reefing? The Obsession!!

A mate of mine dropped a false cleaner wrasse into my prev sustem as a surprise....damaged 2 fish before I got home and flushed it  The 2 fish died the next day....

That said, last week I got a goniapora and 2 small regal tangs from a friend who was emigrating (I know I know, but the Goni is doing great and has been in his tank for 2 years already- looks better and healthier in mine!) The next night at 11pm a friend came around and gave me a huge anenome that was battling in one of his restaurant tanks....the patient is flourishing in my system now...

You're a lucky man, that's for sure. And your special talent of being able to see even with your eyes closed must be amazing!

The best gift so far is that she has not b!tch3d at the money I 've spent. :)

She has also suggested we start looking for a large tank to put in the rec room we are planning for our basement. :D
