i purchased a large frag of brown acropora about a mont ago from a frag trade show....i brought it home and it began to darken up and polyps were nice and o0pen for about 2 weeks ,then i noticied that the polyps had stoped opening....and last night i notices some "bleached spots" i look at it today and it looks as if the brown "skin" is falling/peeling off revealing a white skelton.......what could this be,i thought maby not enough light ,its under a 186w pc....about 2 inches under the waters surface..any idea of what this could be thx

RTN. Sounds like it too me. Sloughing of the skin. Might want to frag a part of it that is not effected and try to save that. Not sure PC lights are enough for acros though. JMO

it's schloffing(??) off the actual flesh, while i wouldn't point directly to RTN it is bad news. Best thing you could probably do is frag off the tips that are unaffected and hope for the best.

Do you have it in direct flow (ie in front of a powerhead or return)?

Too much direct flow can cause this to hapen too.

Or are the "bleached" spots at the tips? It could just be growing!

Can you get a picture?
