my tanks are running out of room, and i think it will be alot easier to focus on just one tank, it will alos give my corals a lot more room.

10g

how exactly do i go about doing the transfer? also need some options on lighting, i can't have a hanging fixture, parents would kill me, im thinking about the tek light 36" 4 or 6 bulb t-5 fixture. the 10g is only 20days old, cycled but i still need to do my 1st w/c on it

Here is what I did. Set up the 40 with new sand and water. Add a couple of cups of your old sand and a few gallons of your tank water and a few pieces of LR from one of your tanks. Let that sit for a week or two and then just pull everything in one fell swoop. I did it from my 46 to 90 that way and it is clear sailing 2 weeks later. Let me know if you have any other Q's as I just got done changing my tank over.

I dont see why you couldnt add new sand if you wish to have it, add some tank water from each of the other three tanks. Place the live rock in the 40 the way you like. Add some newly made saltwater to finish off the tank water level and get every thing online (heaters, powerheads, ect..) Then put all the corals in buckets and drip acclimate the buckets to the new tank.

This way its done in one day and you shouldnt see any spike as the live rock is cured/estalished and sand is new.

Do it on a day off.

If you do a search here using the word "move" and "tank" you'll find tons of good info!
