Does anyone know if I can replace my Kent 24gpd TFC RO membrane with one of their 35gpd Hi-S membranes? I know that you can use a higher flow membrane if you also replace the flow restrictor, but I wasn't sure whether or not the Hi-S membrane would fit in the same housing as the TFC.

They should use the same housing, but the best thing to do is check with seller.

I *think* the Hi-S is from the prefilter, no? :?

I asked them about it through their website's support page but I haven't heard anything back yet :( . They do sell a 35gpd Hi-S membrane replacement though. I believe their Hi-S units all use the same prefilters as the TFC units.

When I hear from Kent, I will post their reply.

Hi-S = High Silicate removal membrane. I have the 65 GPD one. I had to get their flow restrictor to get it to work correctly.

Did you originally have a lower rated TFC membrane? That's my main question, is if the Hi-S membrane will fit and operate correctly in the same housing that they use for the TFC membranes.

Thanks all for the replies. :)

I had a TFC 75 GPD in there originally.

Call Spectrapure - They are very good.

Cool, so it sounds like they all use the same housing then. So it should work. Does SpectraPure have better quality membranes than Kent?

I think they both get the membrane from Dow or Dupont, but not 100% sure. Don't know about Kent, but SpectraPure has great technical service.

Ah, that's probably why I still haven't heard back from Kent yet.

I'll look into the SpectraPure. Thanks for the info!

You might want to check out

http://www.thefilterguys.biz/

Its run by guys that are in the hobby.

There is a good FAQ on there web site and you can call them with questions.

The prices are the same or better then most Filter web sites.

The last order I made with them I got an unexpected refund because it cost less to ship my order than anticipated Got to love that.

I just placed my order with my regular supplier before I saw your post. I'll check them out anyway for the next time. Thanks for the link!
