If you are talking about the Prizm Skimmer IMO is junk.

Look into a BakPak or a Remora.

I agree it is junk, why not just save a bit more for a better skimmer.

I use a Euro-reef RC-135 on my 75, which was pricey but well worth it IMO.

If I was you I would look at the Euro-reefs at premiumaquatics.com, I believe they have a great deal for RS-80 on there home page right not for 178.99. I would go for that or an octopus recirculating needle wheel.

If I could have saved all the money from all the skimmers I owned over the years I would be rich, or able to aford a RK2.....(turboflotor t-1000, red sea belrin xl, seaclone, bullet 3, euro-reef cs8-12, euro-reef rs-80, and a few I forget)

Anyway I am just saying saving a bit more and waiting to get the best skimmer for your tank is better then wasting money on something you'll replace in the short term.

I really like my newest skimmer and think it performs on par with my becket but IMO the two are hard to compair. I really loved my bullet 3 but the pump was external and used more watts then my needle wheel skimmers.

JMO but like I said the RS-80 on the PA homepage would be a better choice.

BTW my other recommendation is to buy second hand if your budget is tight, your money should go much further at the for sale forums on RC OR RDO.

Used gear should typically be 50% less the retail depending on age and condition.

bought a Prism at Christmas because it was on sale 40% off and I needed to use a gift certificate. I have not had any of the issues with dialing it in and it just skims away no problem. I took two days to adjust it and have not touched the flow regulator since. However I doubt it processes enough water to be rated anywhere near where they say it does. I would estimate 100 gph coming through the outflow.

But seeing other equipment I seriously doubt this would satisfy anything bigger than my 40gal.

PS if you dont have an overflow/sump you need the surface skimer adaper to remove surface scum. The skimer without it is useless.

Wait, you will have to keep adjusting it when it breaks in.
