Aiptasia struggle

I am working on eradicating a newly spotted begining colony of Aiptasia. Of course want to take care of it before it becomes an epidemic. I have used Jo's juice to no avail. I have my wife spot for me to make sure I get them with a direct hit. It does not seem to be working.

Any suggestions??

I had success with peppermint shrimp but Len says to inject with Joe's juice or some kalk paste.

if there arent many, I strongly suggest removing the rock(s) they are on, if its a really big rock, break it apart and discard, or nuke the pieces with them on it, other option would be to fork out the dough and invest in some berghia nudis, they are costly, but you could always go in on an order with local reefers and move them tank to tank as they will die without aptasia, they also seem pretty easy to breed as long as there are aptasia around for them to eat, last thing you want to do is just let it go, I lost my first reef because of that, started with three, ended with hundreds

Burn them. Exterminate them. Immolate them. Every one of them. They ruined my aquarium. I only got rid of them by shutting everything down, throwing out my live rock, and starting over with a new aquarium. I even quaranteened my new rock before putting it in the new tank.

If you see one, take the rock out and burn it with a small butane torch.

is it possible that not to increase? could be really a big problem ?

i got still 1 for 4 months. i can not take the rock out and can not inject it.
and i dont touch him i m afraid to divide him.

Sometimes aiptasias grow out of control, and sometimes they don't multiply. I'd still get rid of them as soon as I see them though.

Sometimes peppermints work. Sometimes Joe's Juice works. Sometimes hot kalkwasser works. Sometimes NaOH works. Different aiptasia seem to react differently to these solutions, so you need to experiment a little. Joe's Juice did a nice job for me where NaOH and Peppermint's failed. But others have had great success with peppermint shrimps or certain butterflyfish like copperbands or racoons (all butterflys are risky additions to a reef).

They might not multiply at all, or sometimes they stay "singular" for weeks the start multiply uncontrollably for no observable reason. It's safer to get rid of it when the numbers are low. Chemical eradication will rarely result in them multiplying more rapidly. If you try to hack them off the wrong way, it's a different story.

I'm a hypocrite I still have about 3-4 polyps I gotta remove, but I've been too lazy to bust out the juice

I sort of had a tolerable population for a couple of years. I went on sabbatical in England for 4 months and left the tank in someone else's care, which meant fewer (possibly no) water changes and higher nutrient load. I actually was back before all hell broke loose, but when it did, I cursed the day I didn't try to exterminate every one of them.

Do it now before you have a problem.

I smothered mine in kalk and it worked well. You have to be sure to turn off the circulation and that you often have to go back several times. Just make sure you kill all of them, some of the really small ones are hard to see.
