I am still trying to choose a lighting system for a 58 gallon oceanic aquarium.
I am interested in keeping mostly LPS and some softies and perhaps an easier clam eventually. The tank is 36"x18"x21" tall. I will not be hanging the pendant.
The Outer Orbit would be my choice of the three you listed, but if you can afford the increased price the new version of the Outer Orbit that just hit the market would be my personal pick.
The new 36" Outer Orbits come with 2 halides (either 150w or 250w, your choice), 4 39w T5s and 18 LEDs. They're priced at $770 (the 150w halides version) or $900 (the 250w halides versions)
I would love to have more money to spend on lighting. However I am a college student and will be living off of loans for the next 3 years as I attend law school. Anyone else?
you could make your own hood and set it up how you want to.
piece it together....
2 - 250w 10 to 14k DE, a couple of VHO's and some ballasts....
this is the area where you will regret making the wrong choice. if it takes you a few extra months to setup because you want the bigger lighting. I would wait....
NO shadows. I like the color the light is about 6-8 inches off the water> I went with the 250W to make sure light got to the bottom of the tank plus I am trying to keep SPS.
