Please help, I am looking to help my live fiji rock do well in my 65 gallon tank. I am looking for additives to put in but want to here from someone
other than a fish store sales guy. I have about 35lbs of fiji rock with a blue and yellow tang, and a flame hawk in it. The local fish guy says just to change my water every week but I am getting a lot of maroon algae on the base rock and a little on the live rock. My filter system is basic, (tank with built in filter area) filter media on a trickle wand.
Any advice

Im not sure I understand your question. You shouldnt need any chemical addititves to help the LR. If your tank is new you will get algea blooms for a while until thing get more stable. That is why Spitfire asked its age. Other than regular water changes, a couple basic things that help with algeas are, efficient skimming, good flow, and not overfeeding the fish.

Is the tricle wand one of those that have bubble flowing up?

Sounds like you rock is fine. You just need to get rid of the maroon algae if they are the cyano... can you identify it?

Don't add anything in there since it is more difficult to take things out than dumping it in. What are you feeding the fishes with? What is your tank water parameters?
