Orange linka starfish: Is it reef safe?

I bought an orange linka (sp?) starfish along with a batch of snails. Today I saw Mr. Star (perhaps I ought to name him Kenneth?) with 4 of 5 legs wrapped around a snail. I thought maybe I would wait to see what would happen, but in the end pulled him off.

But is this thing going to mug snails, or is it safe?

Mine is. He might have been eating the algae off the shell.

Your snails haven't been involved in any questionable real estate (or cigar) deals, have they?

Sounds like patrick to me and he was just hugging the snail.

My starfish(I think it is a sandsifter??) loves to crawl all over my clam. If I even come close to the clam with an algae mag. ect it will totally close up, but it seems to love the starfish all over it!
