We are searching for tanks for Advanced Aquarist's featured tanks section.

I am currently trying to compile 2-4 articles on each of the following areas for featuring together in a series. Here are a few examples, but the possibilities are endless:

* fish dominated tanks (a few corals are no problem, but fish are the focus!)

* niche species tanks: fairy wrasses, seahorses, cuttlefish (nudge), <insert your species of interest here>

* tanks designed for a single specimen: mantis shrimp, sexy shrimp, eel, <insert species of interest here>

If you have, or know someone who has, one of the above types of tanks, please send them our way! You can prvt msg me or email: [email protected] for more specifics or to point out someone who qualifies.

We always accept any outstanding tanks to feature in the magazine. If you know of a beautiful tank, please send 'em our way!

If you or someone you know is interested, please send me a message.

Cheers,

I'm holding out until I get mine just right (like that will ever happen). Seriously, I'd like to get my corals a little bigger, and then I'd like to be considered. Hopefully I'll be there in about 4-6 months.

We have hosted many foreign systems as featured aquariums... if you know of any, have them contact me or link me images. wade @ reefs.org

I'm currently out of submissions as well, so please do have people hit me up. Hundreds of thousands of viewers can't be wrong! :)

I am certainly willing to consider an article about a LFS with outstanding tanks... we'd need the same information as any other submission. I wouldn't pimp the store too much, but naming it and its location (and a website) would be acceptable for certain.

I guess one thing that has always bothered me is that with me being in the service business I see manytimes I see someone old and young starting a service business thinking ohh he thats easy and fast money. When in 6 months of them doing the tanks and realizing that hey its hard and I quit then I have taken over many tanks and have to fix there screwups so I was thinking of maybe an article on service companys and how much work they really are. I do envy someone starting there own business but come on when its risking the lives of corals and fish just because of a quick buck. Sorry had to vent lol

I have a 28G nano that I have been documenting the build and progress of. The interesting thing about my setup is I used no live sand, live rock, or live water but introduced fish and corals the same day as I started it up and it has remained stable for 12 weeks. I used a modified version of the Hiatt system and now have it populated with many corals and fish. I used a ceramic reef rock called Vida Rock and Carib Sea Seafloor Special Grade Substrate. Here are a few pictures from day 1 to June 1.

Someday, if I can ever get this science figured out. I've had this tank for over two years now and I still haven't got it yet.

We are still in need of tanks to feature on a monthly basis! We have had a real dearth of interest lately and not many suggestions. If you know someone with a great looking tank that would like maximum exposure, please send them along!

Burt - If you (or anyone else!) is interested in providing a write-up for the magazine, we'd be more than happy to entertain it. The following is a link to the basic instructions for creating a submission: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/moreinf ... -aquariums

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

For any/everyone else, please send in your recommendations!

Wow, it's been 4 years (as of yesterday) since I was on the site last! Funny enough, last time I was on the site was because of the tank I had in my classroom, a 15 gallon nano-reef. That tank is now a 15 gallon mantis tank and the school program I support at the school I teach at has grown a lot with 8 tanks currently in the school, ranging from reefs to FOWLR to species. Anyway, I was trying to figure out the best way to get involved again and this looks like a great avenue!

Here are some pictures of a 72 gallon bowfront we have with some mushrooms, some mini-carpets, and a green bubble tip anemone. There's also a sea hare that is employed to combat the feedings that take place since it's in school. The clean up crew also has a few hermits and snails. Fish-wise there's a bonded pair (formerly egg-laying) of Gold Bar Maroon Clowns, a pair of damsels, a single 4 stripe damsel we are trying to nurse back to health, and a bonded pair of Centryopyge angels - a lemonpeel and a coral beauty. Probably the most interesting part of this tank is the fact that it's in a 5th grade classroom and the hodgepodge of fish and corals is what makes it truly interesting.

We also have a tank at school that has a pair of gold bar maroons that host in a zebra moray eel.

I'll submit a few more tanks for consideration when I get some pictures (and can get better pictures of all of them if you're interested).
