I've got one monti in my tank and it's never been happy. I've moved it a few times and it never seems to cheer up.... it's actually grown but the red polyps never show up and areas of the blue base are a little bleached.

I'm gonna pick up a little frag of superman today and don't want it to suffer the same fate so I thought I should get the thinking of what sort of light it should be getting, what flow and anything else I should think about.

What colour should the coral really be? I've seen varying pictures but they are all nice :) Just want it to be as healthy as it can be really.

My tank is a 100g (normal depth for that size) with two 14K 250W DE phoenix halides. Alk and CA are OK although I do struggle to keep them both up... I blame the coraline algae for eating it all up cos, my Coral load is not massive. Flow is OK I believe with a couple of Tunze pumps and the return but the only chaos in the flow is from the interaction of the flow from the two Tunzes... One day I plan on changing this.

EDIT: Darn posted this to the wrong forum... anyone know how to move it to General Reefkeeping?

I have similar lights to your's (AC 14K, but 400W). It is located at the bottom of my 28" tank with "moderate" indirect flow. My Superman Monti is a bright purple/blue base with reddish/orange polyps. It turned totally brown when I had my take catastrophe but has returned to its previous colorful state.

I get good polyp extension in my tank,. especially after water changes. Hopefully there isn't anything in your tank that is nibbling on Monti polyps.

Eek. Hope not. It's really close to the front of my tank and I've stared pretty hard at it and not seen anything.... I know they're gonna be small if they're there. I may try the existing Monti down lower as it's not happy where it is.

Glad you saved the superman from the disaster and thanks for the advice
