With very helpful advice from Matt (thank you), I have a new 100 gallon aquarium, replacing my 55 gallon aiptasia hellhole.

It is now at the point where it is starting to look good, and I've now moved my two maroons and (as of yesterday) my two tangs (blue and purple) back into it. I have had these fish > 7 years, and I would think they would appreciate the new home. I took a ton of crap about having tangs in a 55.

So guess what?

The fish all stay within one corner that probably constitutes 10 to 20 gallons, begging for food (they go to their standard feeding location -- people who say fish can't learn are wrong). They just hang out there, completely ignoring the rest of the tank. Even when I put food in the other side, they wait until it drifts over.

Maybe they know something you don't. Like maybe there is a crack dealer five doors down. Hey, new neighborhood, I'd be careful about taking a walk if someone just threw me in there. Yep, kinda like immenient domain without a court judgement.

Sometimes the way ones pets act is a direct reflection upon their masters.

Have you been an ungrateful bastard your whole life, yo? :P

Haven't they heard about welfare reform? Tell 'em it's time to work for their handouts...

And some fish are more intelligent than others to. I wouldnt classify my clowns or my tangs as the smartest in my tank. I'm personally convinced I have a pair of gold banded moron clowns for starters.

Really though, Subcomandante Marcos; I am starting a new tank as a combination of other tanks in reduction of too many tanks after the first of the year. I just hope I don't have the same problem. I don't have alot of fish but they better be grateful. Or it's here kitty kitty kitty. Actually, I would never...I think.

The clowns are mated, and they are behaving normally, although they have not yet spawned in the new tank.

The tangs are now swimming about the length of the tank. I think they were really hungry. I've been feeding them all day.

Also they are conditioned over 7 years to beg for food in the upper right corner of the tank.

i recently upgraded to a 125, from a 75, and my fish do the same thing. occasionally they will swim the distance, but for the most part they huddle in one corner.
