i heard that mushroom corals taste very bad to fish or have some kind of mecanism to help them prevent them from being eaten
the reason i bring it up is my angle fish was biting on a purple mushroom
today and its been acting a little funny whenever it bites the mushroom
mainly the fish doesnt seem to be moving its mouth . is it the coral causing this reaction?

I think mushroom corals taste extremely bad to most fish (I only know a few butterflyfish that will readily eat them). I've had the opposite observation as you. In the past, when my angelfish pecked at shrooms, it would usually move its mouth rapidly as if it had eaten something distasteful or "spicey." But as uncomfortable as the fish looked, it would still go back to nipping at the shrooms every now and then.
