I have some sheets of 1/4 in acrylic I got from work and was thinking of making a couple of frag tanks and just wondering if anyone knows what would the limit be on size for 1/4 inch, Thanks
Well it depends on how much stress you put on the glass. For instand I am making a 700 gallon tank, you can see the saltwater pond thread on the diy section, and Im using 1/4 inch plexi but the sheets are no wider than 14 inches. You have to get creative. But if your talking about just glueing the plexi together then if you use proper supports you could probably get up to 30 gallons out of it.
For frag tanks make them shallow and you can get a pretty wide footprint boost things by doubling up some of that 1/4" and make a eurobrace around the perimeter.
