If you do, or have had deep tanks, what are your thoughts?

I'm considering a 210G in comparison to a 180G but not sure how the extra 5 inches in height will play into the equation (29" tall total).

My current tank is only 20" tall. It's making me wonder if I will not like 9 inches on top of that. After all, my arm is only 25-26 inches long. :)

Thoughts?

I'm not tall by any means, but I can access just about my entire tank that is 28" deep. No complaints here .... the height makes for nice viewing IMO.

I have a 26" deep tank and I like it. I had a 30" deep, but it was to tall for me, especally with a bare bottom. I'm only 5-8 so to reach the bottom I had to get in to my sholder. If you do get a 30"deep tank make sure it is atleast 24" wide. Mine was only 18" wide and that made it really hard to aquascape.

Yeah, it would be 24" deep. 20" isn't deep enough, I feel. 30" might be a little too much. I would have sand, probably about 2". So we're looking at roughly 26"-27".

If Len can reach to the bottom, I'm sure I can too. I'm 5'11". :)

I was planning on a tall stand, either way. So, I was planning on making a 2 step bench for me to stand on to work on the tank. I do like the tallness that 29" would present. Just had feared it would be hard to reach in case I need to get something in the back or in-between rocks.

Do you guys have to take out your canopy to reach in some spots?

I do not, but I had to raise my VHO a few times to get in the back corner.

I've had several tanks that were 30" or taller and on very tall stands. They looked amazing, but were a ***** to work on. I was always wet.

My tank stand is 42" from the floor and my tank is 24" tall. Working off a ladder can be a PITA when you have to get into the back corners of the tank. I am/was 5'11" and still have to take off my shirt during serious awkward work in the corners in order to keep my sleeves dry. I doubt I will never own a 30" tank because of this.

Was it worth it? Well, would 29" of a tank (with 2" of sand in it) be worth the looks? :)

Visually it was great. Maintenance was a PITA. The 26" is nice, especally since it is 26" wide also.

Here is a shot of my old tank from 04

My tank is 36" tall x 48" wide x 96" long. 36" does make it more difficult to work on the bottom part of the tank, but that's what claws are for. Coral placement is the toughtest thing, but I think the few extra hours of effort pay off over the long run of viewing.
