I have several powerheads that I need to cover. I have heard sponges are the way to go (assuming they are kept clean). But I haven't seen them for sale anywhere... Am I not looking in the right places?

Any help would be appreciated!
(or suggestions for alternatives for the sponges)...

thanks!

If you are looking to cover the intakes on pumps in your tank you may find that those sponges are really big and ugly and are always getting clogged.

Another approach is to go to Michael's (the craft store), head over to the embriodery and needlework section and buy a sheet of perforated plastic for 49 cents and cut pieces to fit the openings. The suction holds them on, they are nearly invisible, and they don't clog like foam does. The most you need to do is wipe your finger over it to remove anything that may have collected.

thanks for the suggestions & leads...

I tried pieces of nylons before but they get clogged pretty fast.. that's why I was looking for the sponges.

I'm also thinking about getting an anemone down the road and want to avoid the dreaded powerhead death!
