Solaris LEDs + acclimation

I am currently running (2)Coralife Lunar Aqualight- 48"- over a 60x24x24reef. The lights are currenly 9" above the water. I am going to buy the 48" H4, and am concerned about acclimation. I have a LARGE squamosa clam at the top- shell is 12" plus the extended mantle, also LPS,a few SPS, and a couple of leathers, shrooms,etc. I would appreciate feedback, especially from those of you who have done it.

Do you own, or have access to a light meter?

I hooked them up on the 28th-I started with: Whites 55%, Blues 25%, per PAT at PFO. I have grad. inc. at 10% increments every 6 days or so, and am now at 81%, and 45%. They are currently 9" above the tank, and will be gradually lowered after I get to 100% in a couple more weeks. I have not had any bleaching yet.

do you still like the lights? I am thinking of getting the 72. How has the colors of the coral been?

I am at 93%, going slow. I haven't notices a diff. in the coral color yet, but their openess and extension is much better. I am pleased with them, and the temperature! Have you read the info. on the PFO Solaris website- very helpful. Also, the people at PFO will answer any questions. We spoke to them on the phone, and again, saw them at IMAC- where they had a tank with halides and LEDs set up for evaluation. Dawn

Ask me again in a little while- I'll be glad to give you feedback. Just about an hr ago, half the lights went out- One of the power supplies failed. My husband called PFO, and they are overnighting a new one. From everything I hear, they stand behind their product.

Dawn so how do you like the lights?

I really like them- coral colors very nice. I have had some problems with coral placement and bleaching- one of my frogspawns looked like it was receding til I put it on the bottom. I lowered the lights too fast I guess-1 1/2 inches, and a hydnophora threw off its zoozanthaele really fast. it is a learning process! I had hoped to hear from others on this topic.
