I saw a 24" fixture containing a 250w HQI, 2 x 65w Compact Fluorescent and 2x blue moonlight LEDs with an external ballast for the HQI for only $179.00 on ebay. You can check out a similar 36" light here:

Its from a company I've never heard of called "Hombby". I am wondering if anyone else on this forum has experience with this brand of light and if so, what is your opinion of the quality of the fixture?

Thanks!

I recently purchased a 48”, 2x65W Actinic 03 + 2x65W 12000K w/ lunar lights from hombby. Without actually asking the seller, I think it's a "second" from the Coralife Lunar Aqualight Deluxe line. It works great and i've only found a couple blemishes:
-The acrylic lens has a small, barely noticable scuff.
-The reflector has a small dent, probably dropped during assembly.
IMO, neither of these has a negative impact on the lights, and i paid $99 instead of $250 or more, well worth the unnoticable blemishes.
Go for it if you will, I'd use hombby again if i had another tank.

Thanks for the reply, Porter. I did purchase the unit and it's nice to hear that a similar fixture is working well for someone else. As long as the dings are purely cosmetic, I'll be a very happy camper. Saved about $200 purchasing this lighting rather than going with a brand name. So that means more $$$ to put into fish and corals, no?

Hey, no problem. I've been lurking around here for months and never really had a reason to post anything, cause I don't really know anything lol. Thanks for giving me the reason.
