Is there any hope for a fish with swim bladder damage? Can it heal over time? Is there anything that can be performed to alleviate or fix this problem?

Not sure if anything can be done. I've heard freshwater people talk about feeding green peas (popped out of the skin) but I have no idea if this would be helpful or even applicable to marine fish.

IME swim bladder issues in juvi clowns sometimes resolve as they develop.

Not sure if that helps...

The peas come from fancy goldfish keepers. In orandas and such their organs are all mushed together as a result of breading for the round body shape. Intestinal impaction often results from dry foods like flake and this pushes against the swim bladder causing issues. Using Epsom salts as a laxative and peas for fiber can sometimes clear the intestine.

I think the problems we usually have with reef fish are caused by damage or infection to the swim bladder from improper decompression or needling to avoid decompression so I don't think peas would help. Probably wouldn't hurt though.

My thoughts exactly.

Len, most problem fish I have seen (hundreds) typically didn't last long. We had some Ventralis pull out of it but I can not vouvh for them after then month they spent at our facility. The damage poor decom or improper needling (is any needling proper?) can cause is usually fatal in the long run.

What other signs is your fish showing? How long did it take for the fins to become tattered like that and could that just be from fighting? A sign of poor decom when first landing stateside or at the exporter is tatterred frayed fins, among a bunch of others.

The fins became tattered within 48 hours after Flatworm Exit treatment. My other fish experienced the same thing, but without the swim bladder problem. I have a P.flavicaunda that arrived with swim bladder issues, but it is fine now. The O.borbinius arrived without any issues but seemed the buoyancy problem develop over time (fins have always been perfect up until this week). It has gotten worse in the last week after FWE treatment.
