My Sohal tang has worn out his welcome in my tank. He's gotten past beating the living crap out of my other fish, he keeps them in check, but doesn't harm them anymore. But he nips on my corals and he especially likes to bite my T. Gigas. It'll die if I don't get him out soon.

So now my question: Once I catch him, what do I do with him? If I take him to the LFS, he'll end up terrorizing someone else's tank.

I could offer him up for sale in the forums, but I'd have to tell the truth about his behavior and therefore I don't think anyone would want him.

What to do, what to do?

Start up a small FOWLRtank just for the "bully" that is what a buddy and I did when we had the same problem with wrasses. They are both in there deserving each other!!!!!! It is fun to watch them bulliing each other all day long!!!!!!

A bullet in the head.

haha...i actually had the same thought about a camelback shrimp i can't catch. i thought of shooting him with a BB gun when he's backed up to a rock. it sends such a rush of anger through me when i see him pulling the polyps off of the rocks.
i'm just afraid i'll lose the copper BB in the tank 8O

Someone with a FOWLR or big clamless reef will likely want him if the price is right. They probably make pretty good fish fillets too ;)

your wrong. i just shot my crossman 760 through a gallon of milk. if your theory was correct, it would have sank inside the jug. it stuck in the wall behind it.

Hmm… Every time I have shot at fish in water (yes I have done this a few times) the BB just sinks to the bottom W/e.

But is still has to go thru the barrel that has about 15-20" of water in it correct.

Mythbusters did shooting in water. :D

Indeed, they did. I remember seeing that episode. Even the mighty fifty caliber only penetrated the water a few inches.

it was skim....
and no, i would have the barrel of the gun above the water.

i also thought of using a stiletto. i have a good one...it's not like one of those super automatic crappers you get from mexico. it's a microtech.

well, enough about murdering shrimp. back to you, Louey. :P

Today, I finished building my godizilla fish trap (10L X 10H X 5W) and caught the Sohal Tang. :D

So, I had to make a decision. Put it in my fuge and deal with it later, or......

So I took him to my LFS and told him the truth about the fish's behavior. I can't control whether he tells his customers the truth or not, but now the blood will be on his hands, not mine.

So, I took the low road. But he's gone now and hopefully my T. Gigas will recover.
