Are there any recommendations on keeping salt good and not hard as a brick? Because mine was almost as hard as a brick and when i made water with it i got a bunch of salt floating and suspended in the water. Thanks for help

Anything that has a gasket/O-ring is ideal, but any bucket with top seal will help A LOT. Get the salt into some thick plastic (poly) bags, something like 6+mil, and seal the bag off with some twist or zip ties after you've used what you need.

I've kept salt this way for months on end without any compacting of the salt.

Oceanic salt comes in a good bucket (200 gal sized). It last for months.

You make them?...
The only reason i don't buy a whole bucket of instant ocean is because I only have a 30 gallon setup. So that would be too much for me. And the batch I made yesterday with my kind of bad looking salt has a ton of salt floating around can I still use it?

i don't think moisture is hurting your salt mix. i wouldn't worry about it. mine sometimes clumps up, ar maybe i dripped some water in it while scooping some out. i just throw the chunks in. they dissolve pretty easily.

THe only problem Ive had is when IO clumps up and I make water with it these weird little tan colored grainy things show up and wont dissolve. Ill take a pic of it next time I make some. How much are those 200 gall buckets?

I think the 160 gallon buckets of IO are around $30-$35 at Drs. Foster & Smith. It always seems to be on sale. You'll pay much more at a fish store.

i think it would help ur sakt from not clumping up if u tryed put ur left over salt in ziplock freezer bags that have the little zipper on top and keep them air tite because if u keep ur salt relitively close to ur tank theres a probably alot of water in the air air that gets into ur saly every time u open the container

i pay 29.99 for IO at my lfs.
btw, instant ocean has a rubber gasket inside the lid. it works well to keep the salt dry.

200 gal buckets of oceanic are around $40. They also have the o-ring seal. If you were close I would give you one since I have a few empty ones laying around.
