Hows it going everyone!
I am looking for people from the Chicago land area for advise/location of some shops and where to get the best EQ around here. I am also looking for a store to buy Fish and LR and Coral as well, please let me know, maybe share ideas or beer!

Hey J,

While I'm not from there, one store I'm aware of is Old Town Aquarium (http://www.oldtownaquarium.com/). I think they're a bit pricier then most, but I hear good stuff about their selection and quality. They seem to get many exotic species.

I live in Rockford and make the trip to Advanced Aquatics in Shaumburg. Talk to Glen, the owner. He is very helpful and the store is full of healthy corals. Here is the information:
879 South Roselle Rd.
Schaumburg, IL 60193
TEL 847-584-0250

Right now he is having a special for the month of June. Buy 3 corals and get 40% off. Prices are very good as well. His website www.coralsandsupplies.com

Thanks hot rod, Schaumburg is far away from me but I am sure for reasonable prices and good service whats a few extra miles anyway! I will look into this spot as well. Thanks for your reply!

If your looking for SPS you have to go to Sea Schor In Buffalo Grove. Steve has got 2 very long look down troughs and a 500(?) gal. diplay that he will frag out of that is unbelievable!

Oceans Floor in Lake in the Hills is also a great place for SPS, LPS and Zoas as well as good fish. Well worth the drive!

Rods Reef is in Dekalb. Awesome SPS a Zoa tank, not many fish. One of the most knowledgeable in the buisness. Also makes THE best food anywhere!

These were my 3 favs. in no paticular order. Just moved away 1 Month ago. HTH

Nice, thank you so much Pam. I will definitely check these places out! You said exactly what I wanted to hear (Descriptions of places and their service with what they carry Ect, Ect).

Also look into CMAS they are going to have a big frag swap soon. And you'll also find out more about the local scene. (I'm very homesick!)

Sea Schor in Buffalo Grove is awesome for SPS and other corals, Steves prices are great and he gets some pretty cool stuff in. He also stands behind what he sells. Great customer service.

His display tank is pretty kick but, I can just sit there and stare at it for hours...

Im told he should be getting a good shipment in soon.

I don't have a tank, but one place I remember when I was looking...
Old Town Aquarium - 1538 N Wells
http://www.oldtownaquarium.com/

There also used to be a place on Lincoln just south of Belmont. That place was my favorite. I don't know if it's still there. I forgot the name and an internet search didn't help. It was my favorite place and had a better selection IMO. But that was a few years ago.

[edit]
Here's the place I was thinking about...
Aquatic World
http://www.aqworld.com/
It looks like they moved to 2029 W Belmont.

Len,
You're welcome. ;)
