I finally have water in my tank. Everything has worked out good so far except I have a serious bubble problem from my over flows. I'm using a Blueline 40HD circ pump and have to turn the valve down or it seems to cavitate, the noise is light and seems a bit like it's sucking air. Right now I have it turned down alot.

I have two corner overflows for this pump in the back corners, the outlets from the dursos are submerged 1-1.5" beneath the waterline going over the first baffle. The water coming from the overflow seems to be falling into the water hard and pushing alot of air into the water. Would making the outlets higher or lower help this. Should I be using a sock?

Are the overflows draining into the sump or is the pump sucking straight out of the dursos?

If they are draining into the sump then more baffles is usually the answer. If you are using the pump as a CL then you may have to try a different approach altogether.

I think hes talking about the overflow boxes.

I would raise the durso height and see if that helps.

Sorry about not being clear enough, I was talking about where the water enters the sump itself from the overflows, the overflows are working perfect no noise or bubbles up there. The water is entering sump from two ends, both ends have the same problem of:

When the water comes out of the 1 inch pvc from the dursos into the sump area it's generating alot of bubbles, I have that piece of pvc currently submerged 1-1.5" beneath the waterline going over the first baffle. I'll make sure I take pictures on all future questions :) I thought i may have it to deep or not deep enough.

IMO, as long as the micro bubbles arent entering back into the display the bubbles shouldnt be an issue. You will eventually get some salt creep from them but think I like to think of it as extra oxygenation for the tank. I always thought that is why we put baffles in the sump in the first place.
A filter sock will help but will need to be cleaned routinely.
