Not in a tank but on a beach and fishing.

If a fresh water cat fish count (you said by a fish not the one your getting).
Catfish have sharp points on there fins and they slash back and forth to get away and it got me right between my thump and my index finger (that fleshy part) Its this numbing throbbing pain its hard explain but it hurts (the spines are full of bacteria).
I have also got stung by a jelly fish that’s like a burning pain.

Where on the Naso elegans do they have anything sharp?

When I transfered my Foxface Lo from one tank to the other he got a little overly spooked, he jumped out of the net but not towards the tank, so instincts took over and I tried to catch him.. unfortunately he was upside down... AND the spikes were flared open... needless to say that hurt like a MOTHER.. poke + venom

Been jabbed by a dwarf zebra lion hand feeding him (dumb I know but he was like an aquatic puppy). Also been stabbed by saltwater catfish which was really excruciating and the wound took forever to heal. The lion sting wasn't too too bad, just left it under hotwater for about half an hour and had some swelling and redness on my hand and upper arm which cleared up in a couple days.

I got stabbed by a freshwater catfish and the infection swelled my finger up for over a week. Hurt like hell. I also got bit by my clownfish moving some rocks around. It actually drew bood!

No but when I had the clown fish in the tank they used to bite and attack me when I went in to do some cleaning.

Well, at least I feel better the Naso scalpel isn't toxic :P But I'm sure there's bacterial infections waiting to happen for me 8O

If it can jab you, poke you, stab you or grab you, it's probably happenned to me at least once in this hobby/trade  Dozen lionfish stings, countless cut/knicks/bites from other fish, etc. Worst was when I was fishing and got jabbed pretty deep into the leg by a "rock cod" (Gopher Cod). That hurt really bad. Made the lionfish "stings" feel like tickles :(

I got nailled pretty good by a trigger in Hawaii as well :)

I've been cut by surgeonfish, stung by lionfish, bitten by sharks and triggers, (those were the worst bites) and tagged by mantis shrimp multiple times. Mostly because I used to work at a store/wholesaler. At home I don't think I've ever had anything happen worth mentioning in that regard. The trigger bites I took at home were minor compared to the Queen and Blue line that got me at work.

My tiny little trigger fish was a menace; it would attack the heater occassionally too. I've been attacked by big triggers diving and that is scary.

I have a yellow tang and a naso tang in my tank, the yellow tang will chase the naso but as soon as i go near the tank it will disappear. Over time do they become more confident and have a go?

My sohal's scalpel is probably 3/4" long. I'd hate to get stabbed by it.

He has put a 2" cut all the way to the meat of my Atlantic Blue Tang a couple of three times.

I got jabbed by my Koi yesterday giving him a shot. I once made the mistake of feeding some hot dog bun to some fish in Boracay I got malled, no were to run. Got stabbed by urchins, snapped at by seals abalone diving. got my fingers stuck in the gill of a ling cod trying to show off. got my butt wopped by a halibut spear fishing. picture Tarzan and the alligator.

poked by a foxface-finger swelled up and went numb for a day

been swiped by countless baby hippo tangs-mild numbness at the cut

had a big tesselata's tooth go through the tip of one finger-never felt it- also went numb and bled for a long while (hours)

just got nipped by a clown, and fuscus trigger, this week, in two consecutive days, heh-gotta lub feeding time! ;)

Well, my Naso is truly a juvie. It's under 3" and has absolutely no "scalpel" developed yet. I guess it will be a while before he tries to kill me ;)

Ditto here, but public aquarium.

I've been scratched by tangs a few times, but all pretty superficial. I did have an oceanic gray trigger almost remove a finger (literally).

You might want to sleep with one eye open just to be safe!

Male of female elegans? Did you get it from LiveAquaria? And did you snap a picture of it yet? :D

I hope him and your black tang become friends. ;) Catch a picture of them together!
