my mj pump, with the protective cap on it , fell on my mushroom while I was at work. Can regenerate over time wothout affecting my tank, or should I get it out of my tank ASAP?!

All of my other corals (SPS & LPS, Sofites), my anem and fish seem to be just fine. I want to prevent any other problems.

I'm thinking its a gonner

How big is this mushroom? I've accidentally and intentionally destroyed mushrooms moving stuff around in my tank before. They send out a lot of mucus, but as long as you have a decent skimmer, I think you'll be ok.

Mushrooms are incredibly resilient when in comes to physical damage. See what it does in the next couple days.

MJ Pump = maxi-jet pump...sorry for the short cuts :D

The mushroom was about 4 inches in diameter when the lights would turn on. Not too much mucus at all when I separated the shroom from the pump.

I hope it regenerates eventually because I planned on selling/trading it in a few weeks. I guess it'll be longer than that 8O

I'd run activated carbon and just keep an eye on it. Good Luck!

you might just end up with lots of mushrooms around your tank. which could be a good thing if they were ricordias. but if they're regular shrooms you might end up with a plague

The pic is not that great, but shrooms are nearly impossible to kill. They come in a close second to aiptasia. I too would run carbon and step up the skimming. It will more than likely make a come back.

Good luck.

Agreed, that mushroom should be just fine. Carbon's certainly a good idea, more for your other corals than the mushroom. Give it a week, and I bet it'll be as good as new.

you'll be fine, I burned the hell out of some of my corals not realizing that the timers were always on. I had corals that were torched. I just left everything alone and they all came back. some took months but they all came back. mushrooms are pretty tuff. I have one now that is recovering from being attached to two rocks at the same time. one rock fell and one didn't and it ripped him apart. I bet both sides live.

Thanks everyone for your input :) Ironically, the pump fell again and landed on the same coral...still looks the same though. Definately investing in one of the those MJ pump magnet conversion holders.

All paramiters in the tnak are fine and skimming and carbon are in effect.
