I have a 55 gallon tank with pretty much all small fish ( 3" or smaller), 3 anemones, and 3 star fish. There are many places in the tank for the eel to go on and hide in. I am wondering if a snowflake eel would go well in this tank.
If you have any shrimps they'll be the first to go. Basic rule is, if the fish can fit in it's mouth there is risk of losing that fish.
I have a snowflake and I don't have any problems. Only concern is that within a couple of years it may outgrow the 55. I have one in my 50, and sometime down the road I'll put it in its own tank. Since they are predators make sure your skimmer is up for the job.
Snowflakes main diet is crab. It's important to vary their diet, and to offer it fresh crab. If you can afford these guys, they don't grow as big as snowflakes.
I've never had a problem with snowflakes and other fish. They are mainly crustacean eaters with poor eye sight so I don't think they'd be too good at fishing.
Mine has never bothered a fish and is pretty and entertaining. My only downfall is not being able to add shrimp or crabs. If I ever figure out how to catch him he's going in a different tank.
