i pose this question because lately i have been feeling lazy about my efforts for my tank....

here is the question:

What is your daily/weekly/monthly schedule for what you do to maintain your tank?

I feed 2 or 3 times daily
I storm my tank with a turkey baster about twice a week
I do a 25% waterchange every other week
I replace the carbon and phosban in my reactor every 3 to 4 weeks
I replace my MH bulbs about every 9 months
I seriously clean out all of my equipment about once a year

I should add:

I clean my glass about once a week
I clean out my skimmer about once a month
I add media to my CaRx as needed, probably a handful a month
I get up at 3am because I heard a weird tank noise about 2 or 3 times a week

Feeding depends on which fish I'm feeding.

I've been doing 15% water changes weekly, but now that I got a sump and strong skimmer I will try to do 20% changes biweekly.

I clean the glass once or twice a week

Feed corals (target if i'm not lazy) 3 times a week. I just started the blended oysters and glutamine mixture.

Clean the skimmer cup once a week.

I have to change my T5 bulbs soon....

feed fish daily (occasionally skipping a day or 2 if going out of town or busy)

target feed anemones and certain corals 1-2 times a week

clean glass w/ magnet 2-3 times a week and scrape it every 1-2 weeks.

empty skimmate from collection container twice a week.

fill my top-off tank 2 times a week

do a 30% water change every 1-2 months and siphon detritus from sump

test calcium/alkalinity monthly or if there are signs of stress

clean skimmer every 2 months

clean bulbs and reflectors every 2 months (every month would be better)

prune refugium monthly

prune frags from corals monthly

test magnesium every 2 months

replace halides once a year (due to electronic ballast) and actinics every 18 months unless they seem to get dim earlier

clean pumps every 4-6 months except skimmer pump is cleaned monthly.

alright this confirms that i am just an over achiever...

i clean the glass with a magnet at least once a week, or whenever i know someone will see it

top off every morning with a half gallon

change 10 gallons every 7-10 days (total system of 45ish gallons)

feed my piglet, i mean my fish every night

alternate scraping the glass and cleaning the skimmer ever other water change

treat with Tech one the fourth day after each change (slightly less than a cap full)

change the carbon every two or three months

watch the tank everytime i can for however long i can....

new lights every year.....

whatever else is deemed needed at the moment....

Daily:
-Top off w/ half gallon RODI (I really need to set up my auto top off)
-Feed tank small pellet formula 1&2 in the AM, feed frozen brine, mysis in PM
-Check for massive fireworm to see if I can finally catch him

2-3 Times per Week:
-Pinch a chunk of caulerpa out of my fuge and clip it for tangs and hermits to nibble
-Feed tank small chunk of frozen mixture (chopped silversides and some random things from the seafood section)

Weekly:
-Feed cube of frozen formula 1 or formula 2
-Feed clip full of nori, tearing off a small piece for each of my urchins
-Target feed brine and mysis to corals
-Target feed mixture to anenome
-Scrape glass and clean finger prints from 3 and 6 year olds off of front and remind myself that it's nice that my son no longer trys to throw spaghetti to the fish
-Clean skimmer cup
-Rinse sponge in my overflow
-Actually locate the fireworm and narrowly miss catching him with my long tweezers
-Retrieve clip, thermometer, and/or hermit crabs and snails from my pin cushin urchin
-Dose iodine and essential elements

Semi weekly:
-30% water change w/ RODI
-Maxi jet LR
-Stir low flow areas of sand bed
-Check all plumbing, electric, and generally inspect for any issues
-Wipe lights clean
-Wipe any salt creep
-Make sure LR is stable (two spot goby does quite the job tunneling)

Monthly:
-Water tests
-Change carbon pad on return pump
-Open remote sand bed bucket to make sure all is ok

6 Months:
-Change bulbs
-Inventory cleanup crew, and make any necessary additions

TBD:
-Add canister filter
-Determine a good way to siphon sump and refugium. It's been running for 6 months, and it's probably due.

This is daily, in order:

Feed phytoplankton
Feed cyclop-eeze
Feed mysis
Clean 50 micron filter
Feed phytoplankton
Feed cyclop-eeze
Feed mysis
Feed baby Artemia + phyto
Feed Algamac
Feed cyclop-eeze
Clean 50 micron filter
Clean protein skimmer
Pour DI water down the venturi intake

My kalk jug lasts about 10 days. When it runs out I do a 30% water change with water from a larger tank. Scrape the glass and turkey baste the rocks. I test for PO4, NO3, Ca, Alk, Mg, Fe, and I2 every week. I'm going on and off with ethanol dosing to keep my phosphates low.

Why not just run GFO?

The sponges in my tank don't like GFO. It sucks silica out of the water as well as phosphate.
