I've had mine for about 3 months. Feeding it along with the tank cyclopeeze, phyto, bbs, mysis, etc.

As of late it seems to be in it's tube more often thought it is still coming out regularly. Any ideas?

Notice any deliveries of items in a plain brown wrapping lately?

These worms are known for being very hard to keep. I don't believe anyone has found the secret to keeping them alive long term. It's a shame because they are beautiful and interesting animals.

Yes, I am aware of that. I was curious is this the sign of them dying or some other problem?

I'm sorry. Yes, this is the normal behavior. They spend Less and less time with their heads out of the tube until they finally pass away.

Crap. Don't tell my 3 year coco worm that. I have had one act like yours and grow a new headdress (feather) after disposing of their old one as they adjust to the tank. However, I have two words for you. Oyster eggs!!! My baby cocos have grown so much better since I daily feed it to the tank.

Thanks for the advice. Mine seemed to have been thriving for the 3 months that I've had it. I'll go get some DTs.

Yes, that is a must. I have been seeing some different colors of coco worms online lately that I haven't seen before. Always an interesting hobby.

I do want to mention I keep mine just out of direct current where they seem to get beat a little from the turbulence.

huh?

It was a joke. That "splat" must be the sound of it falling quite flat. Never mind!

Ehm, I'm saying that the package delivery might explain not seeing the worm for a while. HE opened the plain brown wrapping.

Our friend here is suggesting that your coco worm has gotten hold of some adult coco worm material, and is now 'enjoying' hie/her privacy.

Seamaiden, maybe only the sump gets brown paper packages.

THANK YOU!

Jeez, I was really starting to worry that I'd lost my touch. It was getting close to "buy a pair o' Crocs" time.

I'm happy to report that my worm has returned to his/her healthy self. I feed my tank a ton and was hoping this would help with challenging coco worms. Probably more every other day than some people feed in a week or month. I'm of the mindset that these animals need to eat. Plus I have the sun coral and coco worm which need it. I do use a inverted soda bottle on the sun coral but not the worm. I guess the biggest difference is I feed mainly small particle stuff, frozen rotifiers, cyclops, bbs, coral frenzy.

I do bi-weekly water changes and no big issues with water quality or algae, except the glass which I'm too lazy to clean regularly...
