i don't think GSP stings at all. xenia will creep up the back wall of your tank and stop at the top. at the end, you'll have xenia at the top and nothing below. i vote GSP to cover an area. i don't kn ow about shaded areas, but i know that my GSP does better in a medium to high flow area.
This is kinda of funny that you and mr X are on the same page. I am from Bucks co. Warrington... ....Street road and 611 area.
and i was stationed in littlecreek va. for 10 years I lived on Va bch blvd, Laskin rd i think it was.
Just thought it was a small world and wanted to make a note of it
If you do go with Xenia, use the pompom variety. The regular pulsing xenia seem to grow really long and keep reaching further out into the tank touching and shading everything below. I have the pompom variety covering the back wall of my tank and the regular pulsing on the side. They are both really cool though. I am very careful to rremove any that become detached before they get a chance to grow onto my rocks. I think the GSP would be really cool too, especially if you want it to grow closer up against the side and not shade or touch anything below.
I'm a GSP fan myself, just never liked Xenia too much. And shop around for your GSP, it comes in many shades of green, some of which are very bright/attractive.
I've seen a picture of a tank with the back wall covered in GSP, and it looked really cool. . .kind of reminded me of an ivy covered fence. I'm picturing the same with xenia, and I agree with everyone else, that although it would certainly be interesting, it wouldn't look quite as nice.
