Just had one today. There were strong winds all day, so after class I picked up an inverter at GI Joe's. 400 watt for about 45 bucks. Power went out just before I got home and came back on in 4 hrs. I didn't have to pull my car battery out :D

The one important thing to have on an uninterrupted power supply is circulation. Next, I would add the heater if you have power to spare.

Or you could just throw in a mag drive and knock both birds out with one stone.

Yes, I do have a mag drive too. That's a good idea since temperature would be an issue.

I had the same situation today :). Luckily the temp never went bellow 78, and ironically I just came home from an LFS with my crabs :) when I found the house in dark.

Luckily power was out for only a short while. I think I'll go get some snails today :)

For longer outahges can't beat a generator, cheap insurance in my opinion. I lasted 7 days in the middle of a freezing winter with one...tank survived too.

Rio beats magdrive hands down on this  esp. if the impeller is not spinning.
