ballast question

i'm getting ready to change out my 400 watt sunlight supply magnetic ballasts for 250 watters.
does anyone know anything about Sunlight Supply Galaxy Dual 250W Electronic Ballast ?

there's also the option of the 250w Icecap Electronic Metal Halide Ballast.

what is the best ballast available for mogul socket 250 watt lamps?

Hello

I just went through the same thing, I found the PFO M80 ballast, it has more PAR output on any bulb. If you go to Sanjays site and look at your bulb and youll see that the M80 driven bulbs are higher in PAR.

First of all, I'm a big fan of Icecaps. I had a bad one, and they sent me a new one no questions asked. Great customer service.

The M80 is a Tar ballast. It's not electronic like the icecaps. So it will be cheaper, but cost more (and be hotter) to run.

I have had nothing but bad ballasts from ICECAP. They just re brand it from ARO. Heck I saw 2 of them go out at Dr.Mac's table at MACNA. The rep did replace them on the spot though.
It makes me upset knowing the industry is so profit driven. They take of the shelf stuff, re brand it and jack the price and sell it to us.

Example, the Odyssea fixtures have the same exact chassis as the coralifes. The two part epoxy you pay 12-15 for can be found at home depot for far less. Kalkwasser is just pickling lime and can be found at wal-mart for much cheaper. The list goes on and on....
