i need information supporting the idea that baby Tridacna clams don't need to be target fed. i know Klump wrote on the issue, but i can't seem to find the article.
thanks.

How old/big do you consider as baby?

I have T. deresa that is 1.5 inch across and never fed. It is about 4 inch right now after about a year. YMMV.

i wanted the actual study. i too, have 2 T. Crocea clams that i bought at about 3" and never fed. i read somewhere an article that was written by a guy named klump, that proved by his study, that no clams, no matter their age, need to be target fed. i can't seem to recall it now.

Target feeding maybe a bit difficult to prove scientifically in home aquarium. Did not have access to the article above, but how can you ensure that it is not indirectly "target" fed? that is, what if the clam was able to capture some food indirectly, such as when snail spawning, or other indirect food source, such as when you feel fishes in the tank? :?

yes, young tridacna need more than just light, but alot of people say they need to be target fed in order to survive.
they claim it's not enough to simply add things to the water.
i disagree with this. as a matter of fact, the first day i got my clams i tried to target feed them and they were clearly unhappy. i did nothing since , and they seem healthy and happy.
