Looks really nice and clean! Instead of vinyl, you can always use flexible PVC, which is glue, and available in dark colors (I believe). ;)

is it just me or does those two vortechs take away more eye appeal
of the tank then pumps which clamp on near the top rims on the sides
which can be angled down?

i hardly ever notice those types of setups.. as my eyes are drawn to the
center of the tank and the rockwork.

the vortechs though.. due to no angling ability.. are always smack dab in
the main viewing areas. centered on the back or sides.. sticking out a good
3 inches and draws my eyes to them.

i should also state i have owned this pump before and it is not like i have
pump envy. as in i am always looking for it due to a desire to own it.

i just do not like how i see two eye balls (pumps) in an area where your
eyes are drawn to so quickly.

that said. i do like your rockwork a lot!

IMO-in a few months the coral will hide the pumps, and be very happy they have that much flow behind them..

i guess if you buy large pieces of coral to start with,, it could hide them in
a few months ;-)

i am not complaining about the flow at all. everyone who has owned that
pump knows it can move water with the best.

i was just throwing out my opinion.. and we all know what that is worth :)

Yup, I've been struggling with how to get good flow in my tank. I really like the design of the vortech, so I never seriously considered Tunze. That being said, with the vortechs, it's either mounting them on the side or in the back. In terms of flow, I think mounting them on the sides in general is best. However, my tank is pretty deep front-to-back so mounting them on the sides would ruin 2 pretty good viewing angles. Also, like iseeweed said, I think corals down the line will cover the pumps.
Right now, with nothing else in the tank, I agree that your eyes are immediately drawn to them.

Update:

I've started to get some livestock in my tank although up to this point, it's mostly been fish. I did lose the helfrichi (I believe), because soon after the zebrasoma xanthurum was introduced, he chased the helfrichi like crazy, causing it to hide and stop feeding. The last fishes I want are a pair of nice fairy wrasses.

Current fish list:
pseudocheilinus ocellatus
bodianus bimaculatus
bodianus sepiacaudus
pseudoanthias squamipinnis (1m, 3f)
zebrasoma xanthurum
acanthurus nigricans
ctenochaetus hawaiiensis

Current coral list:
strawberry chalice
2 aussie scolymias

I'll eventually take more pictures, but I just snapped a really nice one of the b. bimaculatus.
