Len, wow. you did the search and got a private residence?
Tike called and got an answering machine for mary?
When I read that I quietley freaked, went back and 4 different sources
anywho.com (reversed the number) came back to quality marine (sunrise florida)
reverse phone directory.com (of course reversed the number) came back residential.
yellowpages.com (just searched the number) came back to quality marine (florida)
whitepages.com (searched the number) came back to quality marine.

Let me just state, I'm not out for money from this company. I'm out about a thousand dollars, maybe a little more. NO major loss. It is completely the principle of the matter. I spend about a thousand dollars a month on my tanks, and food sources, so I am always looking for great companies to deal with. I have a few in florida that ship to me every week. I have a couple in California that I do lots of business with. I even do well with e-bay. This is my first backfire.
My attorney gets a lot of money from me each year. (property management issues, land disputes, legal research ect.) I know what this will cost, is it worth say ten thousand dollars to be able to sleep at night, or to be able to look at your spouce, without getting "that look", just knowing that I tried, and did everything I could is really all I need.
Look at what I have already accomplished in a few hours, people are talking, people are doing research on their own, people are saying hummm.
If one person reads some of this, and questions whether they should do business with this company, then I have already won.

No one doubts you regarding Aquacon's questionable practices. Their history has been a matter of public knowledge for quite some time; they are not a reputable company. We're just saying a lawsuit is not practical. If you don't mind footing the cost and doing the legal legwork, by all means, go for it. It is a pretty big undertaking is all we're saying.

I'm also trying to protect the interest of reputable companies like Quality Marine in Los Angeles (from confusion with any DBA Aquacon could be using that may be mistaken for them).

Get my money back and move on? are you crazy? I've been in business for a long time. You don't treat customers this way. So, you think I should just take the money and do nothing? What about the next person that gets scamed? Screw them? Everyone fend for themselves?
What the hell is that? Someone has to say enough, this hobby is hard enough, try to find good dealers of beautiful specimens. Every crook or con man out there scamming people only makes it more difficult for the honest business to prosper. To many hobbiest give up because of crooks selling them crappy specimens. We need to stand up for ourselves and demand honest business practices. If we dont, we just lie down; and take it like sheep. Are you a sheep? BAHHH

Hey odds, sorry about the nonsense Aquacon, whatever it is this time, is giving you.

You say you are in business and so am I for over 25 years now. I find myself in disagreements/arguments almost on a daily basis with everyone from insurance to utilities to the labor board and the list goes on and on. While I admire your zeal to pursue this matter I personally am fought out at the end of the day.

If this is how you want to give something lasting to saltwater then go for it, however, I feel giving away aquacultured frags to local club members and friends much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Life isnt fair and sometimes you lose when you win. Enjoy your saltwater first and if you still feel you must then go get em. Get Petco while you are at it and I have a long list of others you can go after also. :D

thanks for your reply.
Actually I could not agree more. I work all day, try to give my family, my employee's and most of all my customers only the best quality work, and price. Unfortunatly, most of my business is going in behind shoddy contractors/carpenters and repairing their work.
I come home late in the evening, and still have hours of paperwork, estimates, bills, phone calls ect. to make. Owning a business, as you know is not a 9-5 type job.
My saltwater tanks are my form of relaxation. They are my liquid television. It has been the one thing that I control, no corruption, no B.S. That has now been tainted.
Call me old fashioned, maybe even naive, I'm just an old fashioned new englander. My handshake, and my word are just as strong as my written bids/contracts.
Outside of Maine, there are lots of saltwater stores, they seem to be on every corner in california, florida ect. I have to drive 45 minutes to the city were I can purchase my specimens. I know of four stores in our entire state. We just got a petco this year, and I am sickened by them as well. I know some of the salespeople there, and even they wont purchase the stuff from their own store.
It's way to easy to turn a blind eye nowadays to dishonesty. It's a hard life we have. We have to work all day, come home check the kids homework, rush them off to practice, rush home for dinner, pay some bills ect. There is little time to actually relax, and or pay close attention to what really goes on around us on a daily basis. We can't control all the retarted things our local towns pass. Overspend on the budget, not fix the potholes in the street, try to blame us, raise our taxes, and when we *****, tell us that the money will have to come out of things like the school budget, sports for our kids, music and art classes. We wont tolerate this, so we float that million dollar bond, that we really don't want.
We carry this idea in our lives. Well that company screwed him over, and her too, so I'm not gonna shop there, If I just bury my head in the sand, then I guess it does not effect me? I'm sorry, I just can't do that. My family raised me better than that. I was taught to stand up for what I belive, and to help the little guy.
If no one is willing to say what these companies are doing is wrong, then they just get away with it all the more. If we don't say no, then in reality we are just silently condoning it.
We try to teach our children that stealing is wrong, but when someone steals from us, we do nothing? I can't do that. I still belive in right and wrong, and try not only to teach those, but more importantly, I must live them as well; for no one's sake but mine own.
There are many wonderful companies out there selling a great product, it appears that Quality marine out of L.A. CA. is one of them. It is nice to hear that. It is important to tell others not only of the bad we find, but more importantly; the good companies. THAT IS HOW WE GROW THIS HOBBY!
IF ANYBODY HAS SOME REALLY NICE STORES THEY DEAL WITH, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I LOVE TO GIVE MY BUSINESS TO HONEST PEOPLE, AND HONEST COMPANIES, EVEN IF IT COST A LITTLE MORE MONEY! It has always been true, you get what you pay for.
I wish you all a happy thanksgiving, and god bless america!

Just tell them to refund your money or call your credit card company to initiate a chargeback.
No attorney is going to take this case-it has no standing for a class action suit.
No law enforcement agency is going to do anything either. At the most they will take a report, then complain to each other and file it. Everybody is too busy and understaffed to do anything.

we all work hard at our Business adventures. The ones with with integrity always seem to last the longest. My point is this. litigation is expensive. why throw away a quarter mill to prove a point, and I thank you for your insight. There are lots of reputable dealers out there. personally I like to see and hold what I'm about to purchase as far as live stock is concerned. keep in mind that this is a hobby. Put the bad experiences behind you so you and you r family can enjoy your reef.

I almost purchased some Marshall Island from that company a couple months ago. I decided to go with another company in California after I got a bad feeling from the Florida Folk during our phone conversations. I used to live in the area so I started asking questions when I saw the area code. One odd thing I noticed was that they were intentionally vague about their location. That always brings out the yellow caution flag for me. In addition, the guy I spoke to was a little nasty over the phone. I figured if this is how they start out, I didn't want to to spend my hard earned cash with them.

Anyway, I'm happy to see you have the resolve and the resources to challenge what is clearly a problem company. I can relate to how you feel. Everyone hates to get screwed. I got screwed during my one and only experience with ebay. I hope you are succesful.

Apathy is the means by which crooks acquire their gains. Those who preach a stance that is, essentially, apathetic, give their tacit support of such companies.

If I could be a party to such a claim, I would participate. As it is, I support anyone who feels passionately enough about a wrong to make the effort to right it. These are the people who get things done, these are the people who think, these are the people I admire.
