With more people into reefing them ever before supply is stretched thin. One HUGE reason you don't see the size, amount or coloration as we used to see. Just wait until China gets fully involved with reef keeping, you'll see FAR less wild imports into the US.

Yeah, 2 years ago these were incredibly rare. Last year they were still super expensive. This year, prices have gone down considerably and they're more available. But I've only seen the green centered ones with pink tentacles like the ones in the picture above.

Gresh, what other colors have you seen? Got any pics? :D

I posted this picture in November 2006, when this coral had around 16 heads.

It's at 80+ heads now, probably around 100. I stopped counting a while ago. This one has a spherical growth pattern, so the colony is about the size of a volleyball now.

What's your closest LFS? Hidden Reef on your list?

I used to go to the hidden reef but it burnt down a few years back and relocated to far away. I have a shop near me called The frazer zoo that stocks nice SPS, I am on my way now he ordered me some ORA stuff for my work tank and just called to let me know it was in.

Matt, is that your coral? If so, are you doing anything special to keep it growing in spherical shape?

Property of my work. Nothing special, it's in moderate flow but very high light (1000W MH).

about the different colors:

would you call plain red mushrooms and plain brown mushrooms different species?

Color variants rarely define species.

The 'duncan' craze happened a year or so ago when they were going for $50-100 Per head. just like when Acans/Micros hit the scene.

A friend has a colony with over 100 heads, and says "why the hell didn't I sell a bunch of them?!" That colony has been in his tank a long time, since Julian Sprung gave him a piece.

I picked one up fr my nano today for $50 and he gave me 10% off. I buy a lot there lol...anyhow it has 3 full heads and 4 baby heads, its a cream/yellow color. He had 3 different color frags in stock.

I put in in my nano that has some palys close to it. If the palys grow up the stalk in a few months will the duncan be able to fend them off or should I kalkpaste them before they do?

Bumping my own thread here. I got a frag with two nice sized heads on it, and they are doing really well. I've been feeding them meaty foods a couple times a week since I got them. But, for the past week one of the two heads will take in the sfood I put in it usually tiny pieces of shrimp, squid or silversides soaked in Selcon but within a few minutes regurges (is that a word?) it back out. The other head is fine and retaining what I put into it.

Any ideas as to why? Both heads look good, expanding as usual and in fine color. Nothing has changed in the tank and I'm curious as to why this might be happening.

Snapped a quick pic of it post-feeding. The head on the right is the one spitting out the food. Pretty thing, though. I like the look of it.

The one I got for my nano at work is growing at a pretty steady rate. It only has PC's on the tank and I never have directly fed it. Maybe it gets stuff here and there when I feed the fish but it seems to be doing excellent.
