hi
im new to the saltwater hobby, and have a tank thats been up and running about 3 months now, in the past few days ive had an outbreak of what i guess is brown algae?
just wondering if this is in fact what is goin on, and also wondering what i can do to fix it.

It could be either a cyanobacteria or diatom bloom, which is normal for a tank just starting out. What is your water testing at? Any additional info about the system would be helpful for us to answer you, i.e. gallonage, inhabitants, feeding, lighting, do you use RO/DI water for changes, etc. You can also do a search on the board here using those terms that will give you tons of info.

I suggest time.


These type of cycling events tend to heal themselves as the tank matures.

Just make sure your water conditions are good.

just wait.. with the appropriate water changes and normal tank maintenance it will go away.

Like Law said, its just part of having a new tank.
