So Ie decided to make the switch to duel 400 Watt MH's on my 75 Gal SPS tank. Unless this would be too much. My question is where would be a good place to buy them. Ive looked on ebay and it seems the majority of the MH systems on there are for Plants. Most of the ads seem a bit scetchy anyways.

I mean you could do it, I'm guessing in FL you do have a chiller, but what are you going from? something like T5s? If it were me I'd stick with 250s on a 75. For both heat and electrical bill issues.

I totally agree on the 250W versus the 400W lighting choice for a 75 gallon tank. I am using 2x250W over my 75 gallon reef.

As for bulbs, I have used XMs, Ushios and Radiums. The current lights are 20K Radiums. Takes a little while for the bulb to burn in (and for you to get used to the bluer look) but the corals love it and you'll love the look too! Have had great growth and attachment to rock on many of my hard corals.

I have used 10K Ushios and XMs before too. Whiter light and both look great. All my corals did well under those too.

Enjoy the new lighting!

Oops, left out where I bought the lights and ballasts!

I have used Marine Depot, Champion LIghting, Premium Aquatics and Hellolights in the past, and was pleased with the quality and customer service.
