My Euphyllid Catalphyllia was knocked over into the sand by my a one of my zebra turbos and has been releasing mucus mostly at night since then.
I have been doing water changes regularly, as I was treating for red slime. I have since stopped the red slime treatment. (it is on the shallow sand bed only) And still it is spewing mucus. I have moved to different spots because I rearranged the rock work. still nothing seems to help...:/ Any ideas? I was feeding it small pieces of shrimp but now it will not take it. It has always been by it's self not in close proximity to another coral with moderate water flow. I also had a brain coral die in the same tank the tank it also just started mucusing and died right away. It is a 29 gal bio cube that I setup a couple months ago. My friend gave me 30 lbs of live cured rock to start it. The sand was not live.

Doesnt look good what were you treating the red slime with, anti-bacterial stuff like chemipure? I have never had elegance coral but I was under the assumtion they do better with there base in sand/mud. Might not be a bad idea to move it lower with its base in the sand, what lighting is it under?

Are you feeding for the non photosyntetic corals? Have you fed the elegance at all?

I have the stock lighting 1 36 watt actinic on for 12 hours and 1 36 watt 10,000k daylight on for 8 hours.I will move it down and hopefully that will help it out. As I mentioned i was feeding it and the sun coral small pieces of shrimp and they were eating those just fine. I was using chemiclean for the red slime.

This is what I've found on care from another site.
Care:
Hardiness: Elegance coral is usually considered to be very hardy. There have been reports over the last 2 years or so that success with this coral is becoming less common and the reason why is not yet understood. Elegance will occasionally withdraw their tentacles and inflate their bodies into a contorted shape. This may be in an effort to expel waste products and should not be a cause for concern. If they remain like this for more than a couple of days, it may be a sign that they are not happy for some reason and you should investigate water conditions and verify that nothing is attacking the coral.

This is exactly what it's doing my water parameters have been good I been doing weekly water changes and it's just getting worse. Looks like i might lose another coral. I will do another water change and see what happens. Been losing alotta snails in this tank as well. wish I knew what is going on..

How about temperature spikes, how do you moniter the temp?

What is the coral on the right side of the picture, is it a carnation? If so you'll need to feed it as well with phyto IIRC.

Treating for red slime with chmi-pure is a bad idea, you would do better by attacking the source of the issue instead. In anycase I dont want to side track your thread, how is the coral today?
