Since I have been dripping KALK mix (1TBS pr Gallon), I have noticed one of my BTA's is staying shriveled up. During the morning hrs, when the MH fires up, the PH is 8.2/8.3 range. However, seeing as though my Kalk is dripping all day, when the lights finally go out around 10pm, the PH is about 8.4/8.5. The green BTA is also located directly under the 175MH and I am sure its location has something to do with this. My small Rose BTA is in a different location of the tank and does fine all day long.
-My question is how do I reduce the change in PH?
- Also, is there is make shift type of system that will automatically turn on the Kalk drip system in the evening and off when the lights turn on?

Thanks,
J.

Since I started dripping Kalk mix about 1month ago.
I like doing this drip because the water Params stay more consistent (currently at KH-9.0dkh, CA - 430ppm), but i cam not figure out why that one anemone is getting pissed.
Out of town for a bit though so I guess i will have to let it be till I get home.

I'd see how it goes, but maybe look for other causes.

Are you using a pump with the kalk ? If not, you could try an aqualifter dosing pump set on a timer to drip only at night.

I use a LiterMeterIII and have no problems at all. It doses B-Ionic calcium and alkalinity equally on a 24 hour cycle. You set it and forget it. It is a little pricey but well worth its weight in gold. Seems to keep the PH right at 8.2 all the time.
